Restore Balance in France

  • Toulouse Region France (map)

Join Amy Baxter in your own private Chateau in the French Countryside.

The Chateau is located in the heart of the vineyard countryside on a charming 18th-century estate in Southwest France. The private estate overlooks the quaint village of Andillac, offering seclusion and stillness, yet rich in history and culture. The grounds include an indoor and outdoor yoga shala, swimming pool, tennis court and zen garden to relax, unwind and recharge. The Region is well known for its enchanting medieval villages, castles, vineyards and breathtaking French countryside. We are calling this retreat ‘Restore Balance Escape’ as together, we enjoy morning flow practices, explore the picturesque French countryside, unwind with a yin practice, and put the “treat” in “retreat” with a cheeky glass vino along with a nourishing farm to table feast. We love yoga, we love to travel, and creating magic that happens only on a retreat!

The Destination

Picturesque countryside & world-class vineyards.

Manoir Mouret is located just one hour from the vibrant city of Toulouse in Southwest France. The area is renowned for its history, world-class vineyards and picturesque countryside. There is so much to explore in this charming region of France that is rich in culture. It is famous for its wine, medieval hilltop villages and food markets. We will explore the quintessential French countryside town Saint Antonin Noble Val situated on the Aveyron River, famous for its decant houses and architecture and hosts the most well-known market in the region. The town is so beautiful it’s featured in many films, including The Hundred-Foot Journey! You are spoilt for choice when it comes to French countryside towns with Cordes sur Ciel, one of France's more beautiful villages, just 15 minutes away and Albi, a UNESCO city, is a short drive.

The elegant Manoir Mouret and it’s barns were built in the 1850s by the village's master winemaker. So if you love your yoga with a cheeky side of vino you are in the right place. The Region produces some of the best wines and vineyards in the country. The chateau has 5 acres of land with mature trees, landscaped gardens and views over the surrounding countryside. At the heart of Manoir Mouret is a large organic potager with a variety of fruits and vegetables for the ultimate farm-to-table retreat!

The magical location offers seclusion and wanderlust surrounded by evergreen rolling hills and provides a true sanctuary in which to escape the pressures of busy life and explore the sights and sounds of this beautiful country.

Meet Your Chef Amaia

Just like yoga, a good meal nourishes all the senses and brings people together.

We believe a retreat is only as good as the food! And that is exactly why we cannot wait for you to try Amaia’s food! Amaia is a macrobiotic chef with a hunger for learning. She has travelled 30 countries over the last decade and worked on a variety of sustainability projects. Her biggest takeaway is that what we eat and grow is the seed for building a truly sustainable world. Her mission is to nourish people and share ecological practices through flavours.

Meals on retreat will be served at large communal tables, with farm-to-table produce on the outdoor patio. Amaia uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients, primarily grown on-site or from her very own garden. This is the ultimate farm-to-table retreat, using seasonal produce to fuel your body and mind, with a French twist. Expect a buffet breakfast, a 2-course plated lunch, a 3-course plated dinner and a selection of teas and coffees.

We have worked closely with Amaia to create meals that are rich in nutrients, to leave you feeling nourished and refreshed. If you have any dietaries let us know upon booking. Amaia catered our retreat this last year and she was the biggest hit of the summer!

Find Balance

With an indoor yoga shala to embrace history & nature. The perfect space to dive deep into the practice.

The shala has hardwood floors and a modern-rustic feel. You will be immersed not just in the practice of yoga but also in the extraordinary surroundings. Just like our yoga practice, Manoir Mouret embraces history and tradition, with a cosy and welcoming feel. This retreat is all about balance. Organic produce with daily yoga and relaxing by the pool with rosé in hand.

Yoga Styles

Dynamic Flow

A strong, alignment-based vinyasa practice. Through intelligent sequencing, informed alignment, and yogic wisdom, students are encouraged to slow down and experience every moment of their lives. Our morning practices will be challenging and awakening, yet accessible for all levels.

Yin Yoga

Long, slow, and deep is one way to describe yin yoga. Postures are low to the ground and are held for longer periods of time to bring stillness and restoration to the body and mind. We believe in the balance, ease, and wholeness that Yin brings to students. These practices give you time to rest and digest and drop into a state of deep relaxation.

Sound Healing

Sound healing is the practice of using different sounds and instruments to create a deep connection with yourself, and your intuition and improve your emotional well-being. Amy will guide you through sound healing sessions using pure quartz crystal singing bowls, incorporating mediation techniques, and using mantra and intention setting to allow you to dive deep into relaxation. Sound healing baths will be practised lying down using props to support the body, offering a space to rest, unwind and heal through the frequency of sound.

Gimme More

Throughout the week we will include special yoga workshops as well as sprinkle in pranayama and meditation experiences for a complete practice.

Explore The Region

This retreat will be a cultural immersion in everything the area has to offer. We have planned some very special experiences including an onsite wine tasting with a Sommelier and a day trip to Saint Antonin Noble Val on market day!

All of our retreats have ample free time so you can explore and rest at your leisure. There is much to explore close by with beautiful countryside walks right at your doorstep and the quaint village of Andillac only a 5-minute walk or local vineyards. The UNESCO city Albi is a short drive away standing on the river Tarn and famous for it’s medieval architecture, windy cobblestone streets and markets. Cordes sur Ciel, a hilltop medieval town is also a short drive away with beautiful cobbled streets, galleries and coffee shops, to take in the scenery with an espresso in hand.

On-site you will have access to the beautiful outdoor swimming pool and tennis court and be able to hire a bike to have the freedom to explore or go for a hike to be truly immersed in the provincial French countryside. And of course, we’ll end every night lazying on a sun-bed lost in the sky’s blanket of stars!

Testimonials

Absolutely amazing experience for the mind and body! I attended the France retreat and it was incredible. Three courses a day from a private chef, yoga twice a day in two beautiful areas, all at a private picturesque estate in the French countryside. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone looking to reset, renew, and reconnect with yourself.

First time going to a yoga retreat, and choosing to do it with Amy and Janet was truly incredible.
For me, it was all about pausing. Allowing me to come back into the present.
So thank you, Amy, Janet and Nectar for creating a perfect environment, allowing individuals from all over the world, to find exactly what they need in that very moment.
— Dijana

Amy and Janet are true professionals! There was so much thought and attention to detail put into every part of the retreat. The accommodation was luxurious, the people were amazing and the yoga practice was the best I have experienced. Can’t wait until next time.
