Join Amy & Janet in the Lake District UK for a weekend Retreat to get cosy, rest, restore and unwind in nature

This Autumn escape is located in the Lake District, UK, set in a quiet, elevated position with panoramic views over Lake Windermere. The estate is surrounded by 80 acres of its own private grounds and is in total harmony with nature with an on-site vegetable and herb garden. This weekend escape speaks to the senses, being totally immersed in nature with hikes available from your doorstep to wander and enjoy the surroundings in between classes. A retreat to escape the hustle and bustle, restore your body, mind and spirit and reconnect with nature. Together, we will unwind, reconnect, and “retreat” ourselves. We love yoga, we love to travel to dreamy places and create magic that happens only on a retreat!

The Destination

The retreat centre is located in the Lake District, UK surrounded by lakes, forests and mountains.

In England’s northwestern corner are the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District. With hushed mountains, meadows covered with wildflowers, and shimmering lakes that reflect the whole magical scene. It’s a landscape of adventure designed to inspire the imagination and offer a space for serenity and seclusion. The region is famous for creative literature and poetry. Picture yourself curled up by an open fire, getting lost in a good book. And for those with an adventurous spirit, you will have some of the best hikes in the UK right at your doorstep. The area is rich in history with market towns such as Kendal, Ambleside and Keswick, which are home to traditional inns, cottages and galleries of local art. The perfect destination for a weekend escape, to explore the outdoors or cosy up indoors by the fire and enjoy the magical landscape.

Your Teachers & Hosts

Amy and Janet are yogis, teachers, wanderlusters, and lovers of life.

These two are dedicated teachers, students and world travellers. When they aren’t planning yoga classes, they are planning their next holiday.

When it comes to yoga, their practices are strong, creative, and always a bit cheeky! Both of these experienced teachers ooze kindness in every conversation and interaction they have with the people around them. They are inclusive and believe every student and person in the room deserves to be seen. You will feel at home in their presence and inspired to live your life to the fullest.

They are also passionate about travelling, exploring the world and believe the best escape is all about balance on and off the mat. Expect to be fully immersed, escape the daily hustle, and feel balanced and nourished with spice of adventure!

We can’t wait to hang out with you!

Find Balance

The yoga shala is surrounded by nature to dive deep into the practice and find serenity.

The light-filled indoor yoga shala has wooden floorboards and floor-to-ceiling windows to feel fully immersed in nature and tranquillity. The calm, serene location will allow you to drop into deep relaxation, escape the daily grind and unwind with nature. We will enjoy morning flow practices and restorative evening practices to nourish the body, mind and soul from the inside out.

Yoga Styles

Morning Flow

A strong, alignment-based vinyasa practice. Through intelligent sequencing, informed alignment, and yogic wisdom, students are encouraged to slow down and experience every moment of their lives. Our morning practices will be challenging and awakening, yet accessible for all levels.

Evening Mellow

Long, slow, and deep to bring balance, ease, and wholeness back into your practice. A combination of yin and restorative yoga. Postures are low to the ground and are held for longer periods of time to bring stillness and restoration to the body and mind. These practices give you time to rest and digest and drop into a state of deep relaxation.

Sound Healing

Sound healing is the practice of using different sounds and instruments to create a deep connection with yourself, your intuition and improve your emotional well-being. Amy will guide you through sound healing sessions using pure quartz crystal singing bowls, incorporating mediation techniques, using mantra and intention setting to allow you to dive deep into relaxation. Sound healing baths will be practiced lying down using props to support the body, offering a space to rest, unwind and heal through the frequency of sound.

Farm to Table

Just like yoga, a good meal nourishes all the senses and brings people together.

We believe a retreat is only as good as the food! Each meal will be made using fresh and local produce which is primarily grown on-site at the Yewfield vegetable and herb garden. Yewfield is a bed & breakfast showcasing plant-based dishes that will nourish your body and mind.

We will enjoy breakfast together post yoga, a light lunch supplied with a takeaway option available for those hiking during the day and a 3-course meal each evening for a complete conscious feast!

The Estate Gardens

Yewfield is situated over 80 acres of its own grounds, ideal for walking and enjoying a region of rare and natural beauty. The owners of Yewfield take pride in providing a sustainable experience for their guests with an organic vegetable and herb garden. On the grounds, there are many paths that weave through the gardens to beautiful Lakeland views. During the retreat, you can create your own experience in between classes. Enjoy the view of the gardens with a book in hand by the fire or explore the stunning views of the lakes on foot hiking.

FAQs

Who is this retreat for?

Our retreats are available to anyone who is wanting to take a week off from their busy life and experience a week of yoga, nourishing food and connect with like minded people in the most dreamy places. Whether you’re a regular practitioner or new to yoga, you’re all welcome and will be fully supported. We will be moving our bodies a lot on retreat so please let us know in your booking form if you have any injuries, health conditions or recent surgeries so we can cater for you.

Do I need to have a regular yoga practice to attend?

All of our retreats are availale to the beginner yogi to the advanced and the non-yogi partner or friend that is brand new to yoga. We are all about inclusivity and inspiring people to live their lives to the fullest in a healthy way.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely! A yoga retreat is a great place to make new friends and meet like minded people. You are welcome to book a single room or we can pair you up with other solo travellers for a shared room if available. If for some reason there is no one to pair you with for a shared room, you would need to pay for a single room.

How many people will be on the retreat?

The group size varies depending on the destination and venue. Typically our experiences average between 12 - 20 students and ensure the perfect teacher to studio ratio so everyone feels supported and connected. The more students, the more teachers. We love to create an intimate environment to create community while still giving you the freedom to be able to do your own thing when you like.

What food can I expect on retreat?

Only the best! We love food and it is such an important part of the retreat experience. We work with our venues to curate a beautiful menu of fresh and local cuisines. Meals are communal and a time to connect and share. If you have any dietary or medical considerations, please let us know in your booking form.

Are flight and airport transfers included?

Flights and transfers are not included in the retreat price unless otherwise specified for your destination.

How do I get to the retreat venue?

Yewfield is located at Hawkshead Hill in the Lake District, a 14km drive from Windermere Train Station. Trains are easily accessible from London to Windermere and take 3-4hrs. For booking and prices visit https://www.thetrainline.com. The closest airports are Manchester and Newcastle.

How do I secure my space for the retreat?

For each retreat we require you to submit your booking form and make a non-refundable deposit to secure your space. Please follow the booking buttons above.

What should I bring?

We will provide you with a suggested packing list for each retreat. We always recommend sunscreen, hat, walking shoes, journal, reusable water bottle and of course, comfortable athletic wear for duration of your retreat. You will need to bring your own yoga mat on retreat.

Can I come early or stay longer at the venue?

We love when retreaters extend their retreat into a longer holiday! Staying onsite is dependent on what the venue allows. We will let you know when you book if this is available.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Please read our cancellation policy located on the booking form carefully prior to booking and paying for your £300 non-refundable deposit.

What If the retreat is cancelled due to covid-19?

Please visit our Covid-19 Policy https://www.nectarflows.com/covid19-policy.
