Whilst we love to retreat during the summer season, enjoying relaxing afternoons by the pool or beach with the sand in our toes and sun shining. A winter yoga retreat to a cold climate might not be your number one pick at first but there is something truly special and cosy about a winter escape. Those of you currently in the depth of winter and perhaps ‘post festive blues’, we feel you! There is no doubt these months are most challenging with shorter days and chilly nights. We have created a winter warmer yoga escape to keep your soul alive, ignite your practice and let’s be honest press pause on Netflix. Here are our 7 reasons to join us in the Lake District this February, 17-20th.

  1. Embrace the ‘Hygge’ way of life - This Danish concept encompasses a feeling of cosiness and contentment found through cherishing the little things. Think yin & restorative practices, cups of tea around the fireplace or enjoying down time with a book overlooking the scenic surrounds where the lake meets the mountains.

  2. Be surrounded by nature - Need an escape from the hustle & bustle of the city? The estate is surrounded by 80 acres of its own private grounds and is in total harmony with nature with an on-site vegetable and herb garden. The District is renowned for its hushed mountains, meadows covered with wildflowers, and shimmering lakes that reflect the whole magical scene offering serenity and seclusion. You will have plenty of free time in between classes to create your own adventure.

  3. Re-inspire your practice - The best way to re-ignite your love for your yoga practice is on retreat. We will be practicing 2x daily. Morning’s will be vinyasa practices & evenings yin or restorative yoga, for a balanced escape.

  4. Hikes at your doorstep - Lake District is known as one of the best places to hike in the UK. There is a path from the retreat that leads you to Tarn Hows, where you can do the Rose Castle Plantation Circular. There are many trails around Hawkshead and Lake Windermere, one of the most famous walking trails in the lakes.

  5. Stay in an English Manor - Dating back to 1859, rich in history & known for its enchanting Gothic Architecture. The estate is set in a quiet and elevated estate position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite & Lake Windermere.  The rooms are all individually styled with Victorian interiors featuring ornate details, artwork & large windows.

  6. Explore Ambleside - This market town is rich in history and home to traditional inns, cottages and galleries of local art. Wander around with a coffee or hot chocolate, through the quaint village or stop in a local pub for a Sunday roast.

  7. Community & Connection - The reason we retreat! We love connecting with students from around the globe and offering them a space where they feel seen, heard and loved! Our big focus is community and we love watching groups create lifelong friendships on retreat. This escape is an intimate escape where we will share meals together, hot drinks by the fire & plenty of long chats & laughs!
